I've been a cowboy fan since the 60's , I am so glad I got to see so many great players, not only talking about Tallent on the field, but, also all the players in the 60',70's and early 80's had that good ole boys attitude.

Actually it's the Packers that are the most successful organization in football not the Patriots the Packers have won 9 NFL championships and 4 Super Bowls. For a total of 13 championships all together

I loved Dan Don when he was teamed with Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football and cringe when listening to the two fools who are broadcasting MNF today.Meredith gave the classic response during a dreadful MNF game in 1972 at the Houston Astrodome. The TV cameras that night were focusing on the Houston Fans who were watching their Oilers lose 34-0 and one of the Fans flipped the middle finger at the camera and Dandy Don said I guess he is saying his team is number one which has to be one of the best comments by a sportscaster in broadcasting history

I'm a Raider fan but I really liked Don Meredith, Monday night football and him singing turn out the lights the parties over, I've use that line and attributed to Don, I remember watching him playing a police detective I believe on police stories, he was pretty good, he died too young.

1968 vs Browns, Don took himself out of the game, Landry DID NOT bench him. He did not fly home because on Monday he had a business meeting with Frank Gifford, Is it too much to ask NFL Films to read some Cowboys books and get it right? Now were can I get this on DVD? Is it NFL Presents? NFL Films should do an hour long show on the 60's Cowboys. The Cowboys did not even have a draft until 1961. There are MANY Cowboys from this era not on the HOF who should be: CHUCK HOWLEY, LEE ROY JORDAN, RALPH NEELY,, MAYBE DON PERKINS, CORNELL GREEN. Don Meredith. I know this, if you have Bob Griese in the HOF then Danny White and Don Meredith should be in there as well. where can I get this on DVD NFL FILMS????

Back in the early 70's my uncle got tickets to a Dallas Cowboy game in the doggone Cotton Bowl. It just happened to be Monday night. As we were walking in from the parking lot my uncle kept punching me from the back, well I looked beside me and there was Gifford and Meredith, and some woman, walking right beside us!

As a kid here up north, who knew Willie Nelson or how great Willie Nelson was. YouTube, Wikipedia, google searches didn’t exist. A guy like Don Meredith, his speech pattern, mannerisms, and persona were like a bridge to aspects of southern culture that would never have been seen or heard by kids like me. Loved his “I want my Maypo” spot.

There has never been a more inspiring, cohesive professional group than the Cowboys of the 60s. Dandy Don, Bullet Bob, Walt, John Wilbur, and Jethro Pew. Thanks to Coach Landry and Clint Murchinson. Jones screwed it all up.

During that first season, it was his good nature and sense of humor that Keith Jackson and Howard Cosell from tearing each other apart. The next year, Frank Gifford replaced Jackson and the rest is history, but it was Meredith who provided levity. You never knew what he was going to come up with.
